Six months after leaving his post as president and general manager at the Dallas Morning News , Jeremy L. Halbreich makes his first newspaper buy. American Consolidated Media Inc., of which he is chairman and president, picks up four small-circulation Colorado papers--the Telluride Daily Planet , the Telluride Weekly Planet , the Crested Butte Chronicle & Pilot and the Gunnison Country Times --from DP News, L.L.C. "In time," Halbreich says, "I'd like to end up with [newspapers in] a half dozen geographic locations." After 24 years with the Morning News, Halbreich is enjoying his entrepreneurial venture. "I'm having a blast," he says.
